Our Lenten series on Worship continues!
Today's reflection comes from a guest contributor, Abby Dominiak. She is a graduate from and the Director of Christian Leaders College. I'm not affiliated, but should you ever want to prepare more for ministry, they're affordable and a great place to learn!
When I was was 14, I came across a quote that has changed my perspective even years later!
I wanted to share with you that quote:
God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say "Thank you"?
William Arthur Ward
With all the wounds, scars, and hurts in our lives, it can be hard to remember that every second is precious and a gift from our Heavenly Father!
Often at the end of the day, that quote still pops into my head, and I think, Have I even taken a second to thank God for this day that he blessed me with?
We have all used up many precious seconds complaining about discomforts, broken relationships, or other frustrating situations, but how often do we say a simple "Thank you" to our Savior?
On Thanksgiving, we often remember to be grateful and give thanks, but then the pain, worry, and difficulties get in the way. The "Thanksgiving attitude" becomes just an annual day of thanks when it really should be an attitude that we strive to live out every day of our lives!
I want to encourage you today to reflect on these powerful verses on thanksgiving:
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing. In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
and this one...
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, as in all wisdom you teach and admonish one another, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Finally, I want to take a second to thank God for you and all the hard work you are doing for the Gospel!
